This is a tough one. I was just informed that my friend, Cavalier brother and initiation sponsor, Mike Pratt, passed away, suddenly, today. I’m dumbstruck by this news; and deeply saddened. My mind has been flashing back to many of the experiences we had together, over the years: The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps, concerts, movies (Mike and I had a thing we used to do, back in the 80s, where we would seek out the worst-reviewed movie of the time, and go see it. LoL Which is how I discovered such classics as, “The Perils Of Gwendolyn In The Land Of The Yik Yak”.) There are so many other things that are flooding into my mind, even as I write this. I stood up in Mike’s wedding, as one of his groomsmen, he taught me how to drive a stick-shift/manual transmission vehicle, Mike was my sponsor for my Cavalier initiation, he also helped me a lot, when I was auditioning for the snare line. There were several rudiments and exercises that were giving me trouble, and Mike helped me a lot, so I was able to make the cut. He was a damned good friend.
Rest in peace, my friend. I will never forget you.

Mike passed away suddenly last Friday. Extremely saddened to hear the news that evening.
He truly was a great friend & Cavalier to know to many. One of the more talented, and “ Coolest Cats “ to know in the snare line. I was fortunate to work with him for over a decade at Fort Dearborn Lithography.
Both Mike’s parents Charlie & Sally Pratt were huge volunteers and boosters for The Cavaliers.
His father was Director of the Cavaliers, and on the equipment & management staff with the Cavalier Cadets.
Rest In Peace Mike.
