Mullen, Charles C. “Chris” 60, born July 24, 1956, died January 30, 2017. Predeceased by mother, Norma L. Sowell of Wichita; father, Charles W. Mullen of Mesa, AZ; and sister, Virginia L. “Ginnee” Tallman of Elkhart, IN. Survived by sisters, Anne L. McCartor of Wichita, and Patricia K. Bucklew of Westerville, OH. Chris attended Wichita Southeast HS; marched drum line with the Continental Ambassadors/Phantom Regiment in Wichita, KS and Chicago Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps; worked crew with sailors in Chicago, IL, where he earned his Captain’s license and acquired the moniker “The Commander”; produced his own short feature film and worked on many other feature and mini-series programs; worked behind the scenes on live television, commercials, and had stage experience in lighting/design, set construction, and special rigs at Century II, Music Theater of Wichita; specialized in lighting for local artists’ exhibits including the Fisch Haus, and other architectural, gallery, and museum installations; installed the back lighting for the Salina water plant; and, was experienced in still photography. He was a creative trained chef whose culinary skills were appreciated by many family and friends (remember the pesto). A memorial is planned to be held from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, at the Fisch Haus, 524 S. Commerce St., Wichita.
