Austin Taylor Weber, age 40, passed away on September 22, 2022 in San Antonio, Texas. He was a loving father, son and brother.
Austin was born in Dallas, Texas and raised in Abilene. He had a happy childhood, and accomplished much in his young life. He loved to travel, cook, was an Eagle Scout with a life-long love of the outdoors, and had a passion for music, particularly drums and guitar. Austin was an adventurer and always loved to try new things – the wilder the better! He attended Abilene High School and was a member of the drum line. He never had a lesson but as his sister always says, “there was not an instrument you could put in front of him that he couldn’t figure out how to play”.
Austin became an accomplished musician and attended Stephen F Austin University and Southwest Texas State University, majoring in music. During his college years, he realized one of his dreams and became a member of the elite Drum Corps International. He played with Blue Knights and then The Cavaliers, where they won the World Championship during his age-out year. Being a member of DCI was one of his most proud accomplishments and those cherished friendships continued for the rest of his life.
During college, he also met the love of his life, Ann Goodman. They married in 2010, made their home in Austin, Texas, and had two children. He was a friend and leader to many and worked in both management and marketing in the restaurant industry for many years, but never stopped playing music. Austin performed often in many clubs and venues and at South-By-Southwest (SXSW), the international music and film festival held annually in Austin, Texas.
Austin shared his mother’s love of 70’s music, travel and the ocean and enjoyed visiting many countries. His last concert was Phil Collins and his final trip with his children and parents was to Mexico in June, where he spent cherished days with his kids at the beach, listening to music and introducing them to new foods. His love of cooking was enjoyed by everyone (especially his baking skills), and his Christmas breakfasts were legendary.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ann. He is survived by his precious children, Charlotte, age 10 and Rex, age 6; parents, David and Sharon Englert; brothers, Josh Weber and Tyler Weber; sisters Ashlee Lara and Dadra Ross; in-laws, William Goodman and Mona and Jim Benotti; grandmother, Marita Wilson; several brothers and sisters-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
Austin passed away with renewed faith and the peace and assurance that he will spend eternity with the Lord. He will be missed by us all.
The family invites you to the Memorial Service which will be immediately followed by a Celebration of Life for food and fellowship.
